Jacqueline + Darby

Like A Love Song

College friends to newlyweds

Though Jacqueline and Darby met during their college years at Rutgers in their home state of New Jersey, it wasn’t until they re-connected in Philadelphia that the sparks flew. It was love at first dinner + karaoke date.

During Jacqueline’s time in law school, the couple lived a few blocks away from Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia and frequented both Stratus Lounge and Red Owl Tavern, and would even return to the hotel after moving away to sit by the fireplace and enjoy cocktails in the lobby. When the time came to choose a venue for their wedding, the combination of the picturesque rooftop space, the unparalleled city views, and meeting on-site wedding planner Desiree, they knew they’d found the perfect place to host their special day. “It is the most magical space and feels like a time capsule of our happiest memories,” said the bride.

Memorable Details

Before the ceremony and after photos, the couple, along with their bridesmaids and groomsmen enjoyed drinks Red Owl Tavern. Then it was up to Stratus Rooftop Lounge to prepare for the ceremony. There, the group was greeted with a glass of Champagne. “While it was all such a blur, I can describe the day in one word: Magic,” said Jacqueline.

“I felt so loved and cared for by the staff at the Monaco and Desiree really took care of EVERYTHING. She made sure I ate, she made sure I drank, she made sure I did not have to worry about any detail. It was so magical and it was pure bliss.”

Not only was the space undeniably luxurious, the people made myself and my guests feel like they were getting 5-star concierge service.

The ceremony took place at Stratus Rooftop Lounge during golden hour and pianist Luke Carlos O’Reilly played as guests took their seats. The couple opted for less formal vibe, so instead of rows of chairs, guests sat on lounge chairs, couches and bench seating (some with a cocktail in hand) to keep the feel modern and sexy. Post-ceremony, Jacqueline and Darby were whisked away to the Vapor Lounge to savor their first moments together as newlyweds and enjoy cocktails and appetizers before returning to celebrate with their guests.

The reception also took place at Stratus Rooftop Lounge and the couple chose to have only have three formal tables and no assigned seating, instead keeping the couches, lounge seating and tables. Guests noshed on an array of delicious foods including a filet carving station, a Mediterranean bar, roasted salmon and more, while they mingled and danced. Other personal touches included a Champagne wall, a sketch artist and an after party (also at Stratus) that included Philadelphia staples like cheesesteaks and pretzels.
